EXHIBITION SEPTEMBER 2011
Jill lives and
paints in County Antrim. She studied Art Design and Film History at Newcastle
upon Tyne and lived and worked in the Lake District for ten years. She returned
to Northern Ireland with her young family and set up home beside the sea in
Whitehead. The ever-changing vista from her living room window inspired her to
take up painting again. She uses acrylics to try and capture a moment, a sense
of place, atmosphere and light. Jill says of her work “ When I paint I see the
world differently – in more detail and with the full spectrum of colours
everything seems more vivid. I am fascinated by the sea and its ever-changing
appearance – smooth and reflective, grey and opaque, inviting and powerful. I
could paint the same scene a hundred times yet never get the same result. "This
is my first solo exhibition and I hope you enjoy my work”.
