The Wee Ulster Phrase Book(Reference #AP5) The Wee Ulster Phrase Book by Doreen McBride. The quintessential guide to 'Norn Ironspeak' is the latest tongue-in cheek literary offering from the splendid observations of Doreen McBride. 'The Wee Ulster Phrase Book' covers a whole range of topics from theatre going, eating out, going to the pub, soccer matches and weddings. It captures and encapsulates the nuances of Ulster humour and dialect steeped in the Ulster-Scots tradition and language. Humour, as in all Doreen's books is ingrained in her writing and observations. The general theme is easily picked up and indeed can be quite alarmingly familiar. Those who have read Doreen's previous books can expect more rib-tickling phrases. Or to put it another way and to steal a phrase from the book - 'it wuz a quare geg'.

A Dictionary of Local Posh-Speak(Reference #AP3) A Dictionary of Local Posh-Speak by Billy Simpson and Doreen McBride. The success of our previous books, 'Talking Proper', 'The Dictionary of Ulster Posh Speak' and 'The Revised Dictionary of Ulster Posh Speak', confirms our conviction that even in this yobbish age there is a hunger for a touch of culture and good breeding. The fact that our other books have sold out completely has inspired this new expanded edition combining the best of the 'prectice' sections of all our books and an expanded vocabulary. We aim, through this dictionary, to get to those areas of pretension other dictionaries cannot reach. Enjoy the read...and have fun!

 | Érinsaga by Jim Fitzpatrick(Reference #JFPBK1) The only book by Jim Fitzpatrick currently in print. It is the fulfillment of the artist's dream to present his work in such a way that the genesis and evolution of the thematic content is made clearly apparent to the reader. He was involved at every stage of the publication to ensure that the quality of reproduction is as faithful to the originals as is technically possible. Érinsaga is an attempt to reproduce in their original freshness paintings which, in spite of the months of labour that has gone into them, are the expression of a second's blinding flash of visionary inspiration .

Celtic Tattoo Workbook One by Courtney Davis(Reference #CTWBO) For many years Celtic inspired design work has been one of the most popular in the tattoo world. Whether someone has true Celtic roots or not, the urge to wear flowing, intricate and historic Celtic imagery has been irresistible to many people. If you have a Celtic tattoo, there is a great chance that the design owes something to Courtney Davis. Over the past 30 years, Davis has studied and kept alive Celtic history and culture and has published 50 books. After seeing and hearing about the many people who have used his art books as inspiration for Celtic tattoos, Davis has now decided to produce work books of designs specifically with tattooing in mind. The first, the Celtic Tattoo Work Book is now in print. The book is packed with hundreds of Celtic style designs, some familiar but many you won't have seen before, all clearly reproduced in crisp black and white, ready to be tattooed. The design are divided into sections, ranging from knotwork, crosses and spirals to animals, new age imagery and human figures. The book doesn't come with liner sheets so it is not flash in the true sense of the word but the designs are bold and free of any unnecessary shading and detail so they are ideal for use as a basis for tattoo stencils. The book includes an introduction by Lal Hardy, tracing the growth of Celtic tattoo work over the last 25 years or so. | Viking Tattoo Workbook One by Courtney Davis(Reference #VTWB) Renowned artist and illustrator Courtney Davis has produced his second Tattoo Workbook, which will doubtless prove an invaluable addition to any tattoo bookshelf. The first volume was about Celtic designs, and in this second book he turns his attention to Viking designs. The Vikings as a people have been much maligned over the years and popular history has distilled their culture and lifestyle to encompass merely `rape and pillage'! This is wholly inaccurate, of course, and this book shows that they certainly had some beautiful and meaningful imagery and a keen eye for the decorative arts. Some of the designs reproduced in the Workbook are traditional Viking ones, slightly reworked for ease of tattooing; others are new designs by Courtney Davis, using his knowledge and artistry to maintain the true spirit of the Vikings within the artwork. The images are all in black, crisply and simply printed, so they are ideal for using as tattoo designs. As well as the dozens of pictures, there is a fascinating introduction by Norwegian art gallery owner Nils Friis plus a chronological history of Viking design styles. Whilst the designs echo what we know as Celtic work, using intertwined knotwork and stylised animals, there is a unique look to the imagery that will appeal to the tattooist and tattooee alike. Courtney Davis also really understands what makes a tattooable image so these can go straight from the printed page to the skin without further adaptation. A very useful, interesting book and highly recommended. Skin Deep Magazine
